What is Nashville Catholic Singles and how did it start?
Nashville Catholic Singles is currently run by Sophie Druffner & Christian Vogel (and yes, we are dating!). We were friends first, then started dating after the Sacred Heart Singles speed dating event in April 2023.
Nashville Catholic Singles was first Sacred Heart Singles, which began in March 2022 when Rachel Hoover, a Catholic 20-something in Nashville, felt called both to drum up attendance at her parish's First Friday holy hour and to get single young adults together. The First Friday devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus gave the event its name: Sacred Heart Singles' Night. Twelve people showed up and had a blast.
Soon, it was clear that single Catholics all over Nashville wanted intentional ways to meet in person. Sacred Heart Singles made this happen through social events, prayer and learning opportunities, speed dating, and volunteer work.
And now, Rachel Hoover is married-- and she and her husband began dating after they matched at our first speed dating event! We are so grateful to Rachel Hoover for founding this organization! (We're also up to 3 other engagements as a result of speed dating from October 2022 to Nov 2023!)

Who is Nashville Catholic Singles for?
NCS is for Catholics age 22-35(ish) in the Nashville area who are single and free to marry in the Church and interested in dating. What does all of that mean?
-Catholics: NCS is intended for practicing Catholics who believe everything the Church teaches and want to date (and ultimately marry) a fellow Catholic. Those who are still learning about Catholicism or in the process of becoming Catholic are also welcome. Our events will often include prayer and the sacraments, speakers will be devout Catholics, and the group was originally named after the Sacred Heart of Jesus: His love is the most powerful and important of all. Sophie & Christian now pray Sacred Heart novenas for guidance of the Holy Spirit in helping people meet each other!
-Single and free to marry in the Church: Obviously, if you are married, engaged, or actively in a relationship already, this is not for you. Check out some other young adult events! If you are divorced, but have not received an annulment from the Catholic Church, you are still considered married in the eyes of God and not free to marry in the Catholic Church. If you've received an annulment or are widowed, welcome! Totally up to you if/when you want to mention anything about your previous marriage.

-Age 22-35(ish) Nashville Catholic Singles is geared toward people who are of reasonably marriageable age and don't necessarily have another obvious dating pool such as classmates. 21+ makes it easier for us to get into breweries, serve wine at events, etc. without running afoul of any laws.
-Interested in dating: If you are actively considering religious life or priesthood, are on a dating fast, have decided for whatever reason that you're definitely not dating right now... this group is not a fit for you. Come back if something changes! Keep in mind that you don't have to be ready to get married tomorrow to be open to dating--it's a process that takes some time, anyway. In short, ask yourself, "If I met a great Catholic whom I found attractive, would I be willing to start dating and considering the possibility of marriage now?" If the answer is yes, come on out!
-Nashville area: This is where we hold the events, but if you're willing to trek from Soddy-Daisy or you happen to have flown in to visit a Tennessee friend, come on out!
